ARTES 5.2 Fiber Optic Sensors for Space In-Flight Applications
The project aims at developing a FBG temperature monitoring subsystem for application in telecommunication satellites. The interrogation unit has been designed as a module of a full telemetry platform, the RTU2015, being developed at CRISA, thus allowing a hybrid electrical/optical monitoring system.
The project provides a significant step forward the qualification of the technology, achieving a TRL5 at the end of the project. The design has been based on space qualified components when available, and on the non-qualified optoelectronic components have undertaken a pre-validation campaign to de-risk the development.
